Arena Reward Update from Season 25 (Jan 6)
An important change about BUSD Rewards in Arena mode.
We'd like to announce an important change in Arena mode. Due to the negative impact of many factors affecting the weekly Arena pool, we have decided to reduce the number of players who can receive rewards in this mode, and some rankings will have a change in rewards. Details as below:
Trophy rewards will remain the same.
This change will be applied from Season 25 (starting on January 6). The reward announcement in the Arena Mode has not been updated in time, but we will update it as soon as possible.
Reasons
One of the working principles of Mones team is Transparency. Therefore, we will specifically explain the factors that cause the reward pool in Arena to be reduced:
1) Slow growth of new players. This is due to a direct market influence - as Mones is inherently an NFT Game. A lot of projects have had to stop, a few other big projects that haven't launched yet, also postponed the game launching date, even the token release date; and put the whole team in a state of maintenance, looking forward to a day when the market warms up. Of course, there are also outstanding Web3/NFT games out there, but those are very few, and unfortunately, we are not a project that has strong backers and communities to support at this hard time.
2) New players are less likely to buy items from the Game Publisher themselves, and will instead be more likely to purchase items on NFT Marketplace - which are often sold at heavily discounted. A 3% marketplace fee is an insignificant expense. Therefore, if there is no revenue from new players who want to pay to experience the game, the reward pool will often be directly affected.
3) NFT transferring is very easy. With a centralized community, although we have warned that buying and selling NFTs without listing them on the official marketplace can lead to scams, there are still many cases of buying and selling outside. The number 3% as transaction fee to contribute to the revenue is almost nil.
4) Why it's down to 100 gamers: We've tracked the data deeply for the last 8 seasons and determined a threshold around rank 100 is a reasonable point to make this decision. Outside the rank #100, there are many clone accounts with the same IP, and the level of payment is not high compared to the number of top 100 players.
What won't change?
1) We certainly will not interfere with the NFT Marketplace (for example: closing the market or limiting purchases). This will go against the principle of an NFT Game - respect each person's ownership.
2) We will definitely continue to develop Mones and focus entirely on gameplay, opening new game modes. We respect the way new players approach the game who want to buy NFTs on Marketplace (mostly because old players who quit the game want to resell at a lower price).
What will Mones team do?
1) We are going to add a new revenue source that is contributed equally by old and new players, regardless of the market situation. At the earliest, we will add ad revenue (we will integrate Admob, Unity Ads, etc... into Mones somewhere so that players are willing to view ads natively so they can get more rewards after each stage). We do not keep all this revenue for ourselves but will push it all into the Arena bonus pool every week.
2) We are working on adding new mechanisms to help Arena mode become a place to show players' skills, thereby stimulating the purchase of plays, rather than focusing too much on the original content of the game - it's a kind of Skill-based pay than Pay to win. All those revenues will also be added to the weekly bonus pool.
3) We will give more gifts to new players to reduce the paywall (a kind of bigger Starter Pack), focus more on the gameplay, and help new players stay longer with Mones, so they will be willing to pay more when they love the game, then the Reward Pool will be improved in the future.
We totally understand this is a hard decision and maybe some players would feel sad about it, but we believe it is necessary to preserve the balance of the project and keep Mones going for as long as possible.
We hope that you will continue to love and join us, and we will continue to strive to provide you with the best gameplay experience possible.
